They told me I couldn’t make money writing sex on Medium. They were wrong.
Everything I read about Medium said. Sure, you can publish stories about sex, even very explicit erotica, but you won’t make money because you can’t get curated (distributed now). This is true. Your erotic stories won’t get wider distribution (unless something goes wonky and Medium starts showing your smutty stories to Joe Biden like they did with Bella Cooper last month).
That doesn’t mean you can’t make money though. In fact, I know several writers that write mostly erotica that are making $2000 or more per month. I’m not one of them, but…still. I am in the top 10% of writers earning more than $100 a month, though.
My point? Write what you love. Connect with people that write topics similar to what you love. They will probably love what you write, too. A couple handfuls of followers that love your work are worth more than thousands of followers that are following you just so you might follow them back.
