My Writing Journey

and maybe my writing future

Some of you who read this already know me. You’ve read my stories here on Medium, shared in my personal journey through ADHD, and listened to my sexual adventures. None of this will be suprising to you.

If you’re reading something I wrote here on Medium for the first time, here’s the TLDR: I’m a smut writer (but also a non-smut writer), ADHD as hell, polyamorous, and just generally into trying new things. But primarily, I’m a writer.

I’ve always identified as a writer. When people ask what I do, I say, “I’m a writer.” Then they usually give me a condescending smile and say, “No, I mean what do you do for a living.”

The thing is, that is what my living is. Not always financially (although I have lived off my writing income for periods of time), but I live to write. Without writing, I’d go nuts.

I think most people who write for the love of it will understand that. Words comfort me. They make me feel safe. And when my partners use words to tell me how they feel about me, it makes me feel loved. You can buy me all the shit in the world, spend 24 hours a day with me, and cuddle me every night (which is how I learned that physical touch is my secondary love language); but if you don’t tell me how you feel about me, none of that matters.

I’ve been blogging for a good 30 years. Diary-x was my first blogging home. There have been others, including my own WordPress sites and Medium, too. But blogging is where I feel heard. So, a lot of what I write isn’t a structured article. Like this one. It’s just random thoughts on a page. People read, or they don’t. I’m fine with that.

When I love someone (or even just like), messaging is important if we aren’t together all the time. I message daily with people who matter to me. But if it’s not returned…I feel like I don’t matter to them.

And fiction and poetry? They have been part of my life since I was about 12. I make up stories with main characters who are like what I want to be like. They have the kind of adventures I want to have. They laugh and fall in love and…
